At Hôpital vétérinaire du Parc, we understand the serious nature of each surgical procedure and our team carefully oversees every last detail. We take all necessary precautions to keep your pet stable throughout the surgery, minimize their discomfort when they wake up and ensure a complication-free recovery. We offer both routine and emergency surgical procedures during our clinic’s business hours.
Our modern operating room is equipped with a respiratory and cardiac monitor, ventilation and oxygen equipment, an electronic surgical aspirator and a heated mat. In other words, we have everything needed for your pet’s surgery. Our recovery room is also specially designed to keep your pet warm post-operation to prevent hypothermia.
Expect your pet to experience fatigue and weakness. Your pet will need to rest. Intense exercise should be avoided.
You will have to give them a smaller quantity of food and water than usual as a larger quantity could make them ill.
You will need to prevent your pet from gnawing at or licking their stitches and wound. A recovery collar (cone) may be useful during this time. You will also need to examine the wound and surrounding area every day to ensure there is no worrisome redness, swelling or discharge. If you notice any of the above, contact your clinic as soon as possible.
